Addressing our health needs

Territorians have high levels of chronic disease, and less access to specialists than other Australians. The Top End needs more doctors, mental health services, and aged care support in Solomon.

As your elected member for Solomon, I will:

  • Push for needs-based funding and support for all our local health services and access to specialists that gives us the same health-care access as other Australians.
  • Invest in preventative health care, as health experts have advised, to improve our quality of life and save ongoing cost pressures for individuals and government. There is work to do in nutrition, disease prevention, mental and social wellbeing, early screening, and more.
  • Ensure the promised 120 aged care places are delivered as soon as possible, and that we have a plan to stay ahead of demand in future.
  • Fix NDIS access issues so nobody - adult or child - is left without disability support.
  • Back our vital Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, Danila Dilba, to lead the delivery of health services and broad wellbeing programs, including violence prevention, to Close the Gap.
  • Defend Medicare, a world-leading system, to protect our access to affordable healthcare.
  • Ensure integration and transparency of the private health sector, and ensure cooperation between government and the private sector to provide important service options, including maternity choices in Darwin and Palmerston.
  • Proudly promote NT health jobs to attract and retain doctors, nurses, psychologists and health professionals to the Territory, offering excellent work and lifestyle opportunities.
  • Support the community push to bring Voluntary Assisted Dying rights back into NT law.
