Community Safety

Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community. I'll work with the NT government to secure our homes, streets and communities quickly, while also investing in long-term programs proven to keep our community safe. No more band-aid solutions - it's time for a comprehensive approach that makes our community safer.

As your Independent member for Solomon, I will:

Comprehensive Safety Solutions

  • Work with Federal and NT Governments to fully resource the implementation of the 35 recommendations from the NT Coroner's Inquest into Domestic and Family Violence (2024)
  • Prioritise youth diversion and support for youth at risk to keep them off the streets
  • Fund local rehabilitation options to reduce re-offending
  • Invest in tackling the known causes of crime in our community, including alcohol abuse, housing stress, social disengagement, and the cycle of violence
  • Bring together law enforcement, community leaders, and residents to develop solutions that keep us safe
  • Support expanded youth intervention programs that prevent crime before it happens, moving beyond simply arresting our way out of crime
  • Improve assistance for victims of crime - financial, medical and more

Tackling Domestic and Family Violence

  • Hold the government accountable for properly consulting on and resourcing the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032
  • Fight for adequate, long-term resourcing and support for NT-based frontline service providers
  • Amplify First Nations women's voices, priorities and needs in national responses to end violence
  • Strengthen trauma-informed training and practices across our public service
