What I Stand For

I’m a community independent - this means I’m here to represent you, not a political party or vested interests. Using your ideas and feedback, we’re building policy positions based on the needs of everyday people across our electorate.

I stand for fairness, compassion for those in need, intergenerational equity, and integrity in politics. I am committed to improving local services and infrastructure, supporting our regional economy, and protecting our rich culture and natural environment that makes the Top End so special. I believe we can have a strong economy and a healthy environment, and ensure a win-win for everyone.

The policies and positions I will advocate for in parliament are shaped by you — the people I'm seeking to represent.

I have been working closely with minority groups, including First Nations communities, and am committed to continuing to work alongside them and to Closing the Gap. Below, you’ll find my position on a range of issues people have raised with me so far. If you have questions, thoughts or other ideas, I would love to hear from you.

COST OF LIVING RELIEF

We're all feeling the pinch of rising costs while big corporations rake in record profits. Here's my plan to ease the pressure on Territory families:

  • Cut your power bills by connecting our idle solar farms to the grid and modernising our power infrastructure
  • Challenge price-gouging corporations with real penalties for misleading practices
  • Make housing more affordable by fast-tracking social and affordable housing projects and helping make homes more energy-efficient
  • Expand Medicare and invest in preventative and integrated healthcare, including mental health
  • Increase aged care places in Darwin and Palmerston to support our seniors

A STRONGER TERRITORY ECONOMY

Darwin deserves better than a boom-bust economy controlled by foreign corporations. I'll work to build a diverse, stable and sustainable economy that works for Territorians:

  • Back local businesses with fair tax incentives and preferencing them for government contracts
  • Create stable, sustainable Territory jobs that attract our young people and keep them here, not just FIFO positions that leave when projects end
  • Support education and training with full needs-based funding for Territory schools and backing fee-free TAFE
  • Work with airlines and the tourism industry to increase flight options and competition, reducing costs
  • Capitalise on natural strengths such as our rich natural and cultural heritage and our proximity to Asia, through tourism and education

REAL ACTION ON COMMUNITY SAFETY

Everyone deserves to feel safe at home and in their community. I'll work for practical solutions, not just tough talk:

  • Fully implement the 35 recommendations from the NT Coroner's Inquest into Domestic and Family Violence
  • Support youth engagement programs that keep young people on a positive track to a bright future
  • Fund local rehabilitation options to reduce re-offending
  • Address the root causes of crime including housing stress, alcohol and addiction, and family breakdown
  • Strengthen support for frontline services working to prevent domestic violence

PROTECTING OUR TERRITORY LIFESTYLE, ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE

What makes the Territory special is worth fighting for. I'll stand up against corporate interests that threaten our environment and way of life:

  • Boost our renewable energy investment to reduce emissions, cut power bills and create sustainable jobs
  • Stop the proposed Middle Arm gas hub that would create pollution equivalent to 12 coal-fired power stations
  • Redirect the $1.9 billion Middle Arm funding to infrastructure that benefits local businesses and services
  • Protect our harbour, air and water, fishing spots and outdoor lifestyle from industrial pollution
  • Ensure environmental protection laws are properly enforced for all projects
  • Protect biodiversity and native habitat - we don't need to clear more habitat, we have other options

INTEGRITY IN POLITICS

The major parties are more interested in serving their donors than serving you. I'll work to clean up politics:

  • Push for truth in political advertising - businesses can't lie to customers, why should politicians be allowed to lie to voters?
  • Increase transparency around political donations and lobbying
  • Support stronger powers for the National Anti-Corruption Commission
  • Expand protections for whistleblowers and public interest journalism
